About Us
At Tidewater Timberframes, I believe that building is more than just construction. It’s about creating spaces that feel good — built with integrity, and knowledge for the materials that become part of your building, your life.
Who We Are
Jonny started Tidewater Timberframes out of a love for wood, timber joinery, and traditional building methods. Not so-much interested in cookie-cutter houses or quick builds; instead, gravitating toward the kind of craftsmanship that lasts. Every project has a crew of people that are passionate about their craft too. Often times it’s a renovation that requires peeling back a few layers and building out to make that new space. Exterior cladding to the “proper” way to build a deck. There’s a lot to putting a structure together well.
What We Build
Whether you’re imagining a warm timber-frame home, a rustic barn or pavilion, or a blend of timber and modern elements, we’ve got you covered. We specialize in:
Custom timber-frame homes
Hybrid designs (timber elements + conventional construction)
Outdoor and ancillary structures (barns, pavilions, guest cabins, etc.)
Additions and renovations — preserving what works, improving what doesn’t
Design/consultation — from first sketches to finished build
Every build starts with a conversation. We listen first, plan, plan, and plan again! Designs often change during the planning stage. This is a natural process and different elements become more apparent. An extra window, a different roof pitch, a covered deck…they can all be re-invented AND revisited.
Our Philosophy
Craft over convenience. Timber framing isn’t the fastest or cheapest way to build — but it’s real. And it shows.
Materials with integrity. We treat wood as more than a resource; it’s what gives your home warmth, character, and soul.
Respect the land. Wherever we build, we want our work to sit lightly and meaningfully on the land.
Personal, honest service. You’ll deal directly with me! Jonny Ferguson.
